THE FILLING STATION

Built in the ’30’s, this historic property served as Horn Oil Filling Station. At that time, a filling station wasn’t just a place to fill up your gas tank, but a place where friends and neighbors met to share the latest news, exchange ideas and enjoy each other’s company. In this tradition, The Filling Station now serves as a community arts space where New Mexicans meet to experience live art, spirited conversation and each other.

Owned and operated by David Sinkus and Beth Bailey, The Filling Station offers flexible performance, workshop and exhibition space for artists in all mediums. The main building features 1600 square feet with vaulted ceilings, heating/cooling, tech booth, professional lighting instruments and sound system. The 600 square foot lobby building includes two bathrooms and dressing room space.

THE SUNDAY SESSIONS

Sundays, 6 PM - 8 PM, $5 Suggested Donation

An on-going series of “jam sessions” for Albuquerque’s poets, musicians and singers. The Filling Station will host a set performed by a local artist and then open the stage to anyone who wants to play. Come and enjoy our local performers and then polish your own material at the open mic. The medium rotates weekly:

August 17th - Spoken Word Session with Storytellers of New Mexico and local poet Frank Calabretta

August 24th - Blues Jam with Wendy Beach, Dan Downling, Ron Lipton and Mike Fleming

September 7th - Cabaret with Ernie Sturdevant
